Swazliland makes an excellent link between the game reserves (and courses) around the Kruger Park and the varied attrractions (and courses) of KwaZulu-Natal. The small kingdom is also well worth a visit in its own right. The only 18-hole course in the country is at the Royal Swazi Sun – under common management with Sun City. The hotel, the mountain scenery and the course itself are top class. Also worth an outing is the nice little 9-hole course at Usotho Forest. Land-locked between Mozambique and South Africa, Swaziland remains a true ceremony-rich monarchy – often controversially so under the rule of King Mswati III with his propensity for marrying teenage girls against his own laws (The fine: one cow).Whether because of its size or its less fraught history, the atmosphere of Swaziland is relaxed in contrast to South Africa.
