Gauteng provides the commercial and administrative engines of South Africa – Johannesburg and Pretoria, both at altitude. Sitting on the riches of Gold, the area is noteable for its sunny ‘Winter’ climate, good shopping and excellent accommodation.Outside Jo’burg, there are some interesting stopover options – from the Suikerbosrand National Park to the Fun Park at Gold Reef City and Diamond Mine Tours at Cullinan. To the west, the Magaliesberg mountains and ‘Cradle of Humankind’ are worth a visit.
