Eastern Cape

The beauty of the Eastern Cape has been rather ignored by the international visitor but offers some of the most unspoilt landscape in South Africa. This is excellent hiking country, rich in birdlife, or simply a place to find tranquillity and relaxation.Historically, too, the province is full of significance – from the long running aggression between the Xhosa people and British Settlers to the forcible creation of the Transkei and Ciskei ‘Homelands’ where the ANC built much of its powerbase.

    • Game Reserves

North of Port Elizabeth, you will find a number of worthy reserves as the scenery becomes more African, more bush. The Addo Elephant Park sustains the descendants of the great herds that used to roam the Eastern Cape before it was decimated by the hunter.Nearby are the adjacent Big Five reserves at Shamwari and Amakhala providing a wide range of accommodation with excellent game drives. A little further are the scenic reserves at Pumba, Kichaka and Kariega - again with good game viewing and accommodation.

    • Golf Courses

The lesser visited Eastern Cape boasts some of the country's top courses - ideally located for a itinerant golfing tour around the Cape - linking the 'Golf Coast' of KwaZul-Natal with the popular courses of the Garden Route. The N2 highway links up top courses from the exciting Wild Coast, the historical East London courses to the scenic Fish River and finally the testing links course at the Humewood club in Port Elizabeth. Naturally, we have great places for you to stay.
